HomeAway sues AirBnB over advertising campaign

The beautiful 2 million advertising campaign from AirBnB has landed in hot waters with top vacation rental player HomeAway.'BirdBnB' sees artists making smaller birdhouse versions of actual AirBnB properties which birds (the ultimate travellers) are seen flying to.

HomeAway are claiming that the AirBnB campaign is “a blatant and intentional infringement and dilution of HomeAway’s Birdhouse Mark, causing incalculable damage to HomeAway’s goodwill,”.

An interesting infographic on Holiday Travel Trends

We do love an infographic at Kigo, especially when it's on a current topic like the holiday season. Tnooz brought our attention to a delightful infographic from travel data aggregator, nSight.

This particular one is interesting for vacation rental managers as it lists the top 10 most looked at and booked global destinations during the festive period. It also shows how long a guest will stay for and how much time in advance the holiday was booked.

NY Giants star joins the vacation rental network

New York Giants star Cooper Taylor has jumped on board the sharing economy train and is offering short-term lets at his apartment during Super Bowl week. He and his girlfriend will even "...supply linens, tv, cable, internet, pots and pans and it will be ready to use and move-in for the week!"

The Super Bowl or other events near your property provide an excellent marketing opportunity to fill booking calendars. We're glad that Cooper Taylor agrees that promoting a vacation rental location is a good idea.
