2013 VRMA Annual Conference Review

vacation rental blog
Last week the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee hosted the VRMA Annual Conference, the largest VRMA event in history! Kigo were certainly happy to be there amongst other vacation rental industry leaders.

Opening its doors to over 900 vacation rental professionals, it was prevalent, more than ever, that the industry is booming! It was a pleasure sharing invaluable advice with like minded professionals, meeting new faces and creating new partnerships.

We would like to say thanks to all of you who stopped by our booth to chat, and a big thank you to VRMA for organizing the conference and bringing the vacation rental industry together. Here's our recap of the event...

Our Highlights from the Conference:

Over the course of 3 days, the center was a hub for inspirational sessions on a range of topics, from creating a killer mobile strategy to learning the ins and outs of housekeeping. Although it's not easy choosing, Kigo's favourite parts of the event were:

    • 5 Ways to Get Your Properties Noticed Online

Flipkey presenters Bryan Goodwin and Koryn Okey gave an incredibly intuitive presentation on how to improve an online presence to receive more bookings. Their well researched session provided excellent case studies that pull apart a property description in order to build a much more effective one.

    • Build a Better Team

Stephen Key from HD Supply provided 3 great step-by-step sessions on how to build a better team for vacation rental managers. From team management/maintenance to season staffing adjustments, Stephen provided great clarity for not only vacation rental businesses, but businesses in general.

    • Vacation Rental Data 2013

Panelists from HomeAway, Wyndham Vacation Rentals and PhoCusWright led a full discussion into the current and the future state of the vacation rental industry, shaping industry trends for 2014. This insightful workshop closed the event on a positive and promising note for the industry; starting with welcoming VRMA’s newly elected board of directors.

Attending industry events is an excellent learning curve for vacation rental managers and a great place to connect with other professionals. If you unfortunately didn't get to attend the VRMA annual conference, keep your eyes peeled for the next big vacation rental industry event to join in on. We hope we get to see you there!
