As the summer bookings are fading, us and the rest of the travel industry are taking the time to look back over the year and across the industry. The brief respite from bookings means that it is the perfect chance to attend the various events around the world for the travel and vacation rental industry. These events give us the chance to meet the vacation rental owners we build our product for, and learn what they need from a software to manage their businesses. The next step in this ongoing journey takes us to the World Travel Market in London between the 2nd and the 5th of November.
WTM is the biggest event for the travel industry in Europe. It attracts businesses of all sizes, coming to learn and make connections and partnerships that would otherwise be impossible. It attracts worldwide attention and brings over 50 000 travel professionals, in 2014, £2.5 billion worth of travel transactions were signed. It’s more than just a meet and greet, real business is conducted here, between international companies and individuals.

Part of staying ahead also involves understanding the changing face of modern travellers. The next generation is going to be made up of almost exclusively technologically savvy and experienced travellers and consumers. They are the first generation that has been born with access to the Internet and personal electronics. They have no memory or experience of the travel booking process before online search and booking. Understanding the best way to interact and market to this generation is going to be one of the biggest challenges of the upcoming years for the vacation rental industry. WTM is a great chance to start understanding Generation Z.
