Vacation Rental Service Vive Unique Raises $6 million

Smedvig Capital have invested in UK based vacation rental business Vive Unique. According to Vive Unique the money will be used  to hire more staff and grow homeowner and guest acquisition activity.

“Vive Unique CEO, Jonny Morris, says: we are keen to invest in our technology and operations as we strive to bring outstanding levels of service and complete convenience to the home rental industry”

Vive Unique was founded in 2011 and it lists vacation rental homes across many destinations including London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Venice, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Miami.

It’s the UK vs the US this week as tnooz have highlighted why mobile is an opportunity for travel companies. The article has a breakdown of statistics comparing the UK vs the US. Which includes how many people book using mobile devices and what devices are used most during travel, it also discusses the challenges that are faced for consumers using these devices.

“The UK has a slightly higher mobile penetration than the US – 57% versus 52% and while Android is the leader in both markets (followed by iOS), Blackberry/Rim and Microsoft devices have a higher share in the UK than across the pond. Tablet penetration is broadly the same – 27% UK v 26% US”

According to the research mobile devices are being used at all stages of the travel cycle. This is good news for the vacation rental industry as it makes your audience more accessible giving you more opportunities to increase bookings.

First Look at Airbnb’s First Global Advertising Campaign

Vacation rental giant Airbnb is launching a global campaign which will be promote Airbnb is nine markets and three continents. Markets include the US, UK, Germany, France, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Brazil and China.

According to Skift “It includes a 60-second spot, along with 30- and 15-second cuts, and display ads that link back to microsites where people can peruse bookable Airbnb listings in their native language. The ads will appear on publishers including AFAR, YouTube, Dwell, Lonely Planet, Buzzfeed, the BBC, Facebook and Twitter.”
